Simple Present: Verb "Be" Review

El verbo "be" significa "ser" o "estar." He is Tom quiere decir El es Tom, y He is tired significa El está cansado. En el simple present se conjuga de la siguiente manera:

Forma:


Examples:
You're my friend
The movie is funny
They're happy
Maria is in Mexico

Negación: Para hacer una negación con el verbo "be" solo se agrega not después del verbo




Examples:

I'm not Mexican
He isn't tired
They're not friends. They're enemies!
We aren't doctors. We're engineers!

Week 1: Verb "Be" Word Order in Questions

Yes/ No Questions

Look at the following sentences:

-He is from Mexico

-Is he from Mexico?

-Sally and Mike are Americans

-Are Sally and Mike Americans?

What do you see different?

Making yes/no questions with the verb "be" is really easy. We just place the verb before the subject. The answer to these questions is always yes or no.

Is he from Mexico? Yes, he is/ No, he isn't-No, he's not (both are correct)

Are Sally and Mike Americans? Yes, they are/No, they aren't-No, they're not

Am I Chinese? No, I'm not. I'm Mexican!

Information Questions

Information questions are questions where the answer could be anything. For example:

Where are you from?    1-I'm from Mexico. 2-I'm from France. 3-I'm from Chihuahua

What is her name?       1-Her name is Maria. 2-Her name is Luisa. 3-Her name is Paulina
